A.R.M.E.S. - The Drama Program -- Kathryn Ballou, Instructor

Drama is an effective teaching tool that provides creativity, yet structured, improvisations through which the students expand their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Theatre teaches teamwork and gives a child self-confidence and poise. Public speaking skills are enhanced with every class activity. ARMES Drama students discover that learning is fun! The classes are designed to give creatively gifted students the skills they need to fulfill their dreams.

Drama's Instructional Objectives

> Improve communication skills

> Promote self-discipline, poise and self-confidence.

> Develop social and self-awareness.

> Increase knowledge and use of creative problem-solving techniques.

> Encourage awareness of senses, body and emotions.

> Introduce students to classic dramatic literature.

Develop appreciation and understanding of history through theatre. Acting, movement, voice and theatre history are taught using theatrical exercises that focus on the individual student's needs. The students expand their communication skills in positive self-development exercises and creative writing activities.
