Before joining the faculty of the Fine Arts Center in 2007, Ms. Cassell taught metalsmithing, jewelry, enameling, and drawing classes at Kent State University, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and the University of Akron. Before attending graduate school, she worked as an archaeological illustrator in India and as a museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cloisters, in New York, and at the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Children's Museum, both in Cleveland, OH. Ms. Cassell specializes in enameling, the fusing of glass to metal, and keeps an active studio making artwork for exhibition, sale, and commission at the ArtBomb Studios on Pendleton Street here in Greenville, where she regularly exhibits during Open Studios and the State of ArtBomb annual shows. Most recently she has exhibited her artwork in Three Pairs at Riverworks Gallery in downtown Greenville, American Enamels at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston, MA, and in Decorative Resurgence at Rowan University Glassboro, NJ. She also had three recent solo shows titled Connective Patterns, at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV, Seminole Community College in Sanford, FL, and at the Lipscomb Gallery of the Governor's School in Greenville. She has had her artwork published in 500 Enameled Objects by Lark Books in 2009, The Art of Enameling: Techniques, Projects, and Inspiration by Linda Darty in 2005. In the past five years her work has been featured in Metalsmith magazine, At Home in the Upstate, The Greenville News, and Cleveland Scene magazine. She is happy to make Greenville her adoptive hometown with her husband, metal artist and fellow "artbomber" Tim Cassell, and their two children.
