ARMES Strings and Beginning Music Theory - Lucie Fink, Instructor E-mail: Lucy Fink B.M.ED. - East Carolina College M.M.ED - East Carolina University Lucie Fink has worked as a classroom strings teacher, a private violin/viola teacher, a performer and current member of the Greenville, Asheville and Hendersonville symphony orchestras, a faculty member of the South Carolina Suzuki Institute and the Saluda Summer Music Camp and the past director of the Suzuki Academy of Talent Education. She has done extensive training in the Suzuki method of instruction, Adlerian psychology and teaching the gifted and talented. Lucie has been at the Fine Arts Center since 1992, when she began teaching in the Arts Reaching Middle and Elementary Students program. Students in fourth through eighth grade audition for this gifted and talented program and attend twice a week during the school year to learn to play the orchestral string instruments. Additionally, she has just completed eleven years of teaching at Stone Academy of Communications Arts in Greenville, where she taught elementary strings to students in third through fifth grade. The Beginning Music Theory course which she teaches at the Fine Arts Center covers all the basic concepts of music theory for students in various disciplines. Application of the knowledge gained in the class will enable and prepare students for the AP Music Theory classes taught at the Fine Arts Center. |
