Mrs. Nitsche is a 1996 graduate of Columbia College with a BA degree in Dance Education. She is also a 1992 graduate of Riverside High School and the Greenville Fine Arts Center. While in college she studied with master teachers such as Martha Brim, Patty Graham, Libby Patenaude, Brenda McCutchen and Wrenn Cook. She has also worked and performed with guest artists such as Randy James, Shapiro and Smith, Ilka Duebek and Stewart Pimsler. Mrs. Nitsche was also a "Turbeville Scholarship" recipient while majoring in dance at Columbia College. She was also a dancer in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta.
After college graduation, Mrs. Nitsche taught dance in Richland County District One at Lower Richland High School for one year and at Hopkins Middle School for four years. Mrs. Nitsche has also taught classes for Ballet Spartanburg's Outreach Program, the Greenville Fine Arts Center and the Performing Arts Center, Inc. in Easley. Most recently Mrs. Nitsche served on the board of the South Carolina Dance Association (SCDA) as the 2002 festival coordinator. She organized this successful statewide event that was held at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and involved over 500 participants. Mrs. Nitsche is excited as well as honored to now be the dance teacher for the ARMES program at the Fine Arts Center.
