A.R.M.E.S. / Dance - Jeana C. Nitsche Mrs. Nitsche is a 1996 graduate of Columbia College with a BA degree in Dance Education. She is one of the first to earn a teaching certificate for Dance Education grades K-12 in the state. She is also a 1992 graduate of Riverside High School and the Greenville Fine Arts Center. While in college she studied with special teachers such as Martha Brim, Patty Graham, Libby Patenaude, Brenda McCutchen and Wrenn Cook. She has also worked and performed with guest artists such as Randy James, Shapiro and Smith, Ilka Duebek and Stewart Pimsler. Mrs. Nitsche was also a "Turbeville Scholarship" recipient while majoring in dance at Columbia College. During the summer following her college graduation, she was featured dancer in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta. Mrs. Nitsche has kept her teaching certification current by taking numerous graduate courses that also benefit her student’s learning. In 2008, Mrs. Nitsche wrote and received a special projects grant from the SC Dept. of Education that brought the Amy Marshall Dance Company professional dance company from NYC to work with her ARMES dancers. Mrs. Nitsche is married and has 2 beautiful daughters. She enjoys living and working in the city that in which she grew up. . |
