South Carolina Scholarship Opportunities
S.C. Tuition Grant Programs Provided to attend a private college or university. Submit FAFSA. Check info at www.sctuitiongrants.com.
Life Scholarship - $4700 plus a $300 book allowance. Must meet 2 of the 3 criteria: SAT 1100 or ACT 24, 3.0 GPA, top 30% of class. Must attend SC public or private college or university. Institution will notify students who meet eligibility criteria.
Palmetto Fellows -$6700 annually. SAT 1400 or ACT 32, 4.0 GPA, rank top 6% of the class. Attend S.C. public or private college or university. High school counselor will notify student of nomination.
SC Hope Scholarship - $2800 (including $300 book allowance) during first year of attendance only. High school graduate. 3.0 GPA. Be a full-time degree seeking student at a SC public or private college or university not eligible for Palmetto or Life Scholarships.

Archibald Rutledge-one time $5,000. Must be planning to attend state college. Scholarships in drama, creative writing, music and visual art. Download applications from SC Dept. of Education website.

SC Teaching Fellows Program - $6,000 yearly scholarship to become SC educator. Fellowships are based on academic achievement, references, community and school involvement, an interview and a writing assignment. Students must attend one of the ll teaching fellows institutions(Anderson College, Charleston Southern University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Furman University, Lander University, Newberry College, SC State University, USC Columbia, USC Upstate and Winthrop.) Music Club of Greenville School Scholarship: Apply and audition for scholarship dollars
Provided by the Music Club of Greenville. Applicants (vocalists, instrumentalists or dancers) must be high school or home schooled seniors from Greenville County, SC who plan to major in music or dance in a US college, university or conservatory. Scholarship applications are available at www.greenvillemusicclub.org or by calling 269-9714. Applications must be received by March 22, 2011 and auditions will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 1100 South Main Street, Greenville, SC across from the drive stadium.

Scholastic Writing Awards-up to $10,000, submission of a portfolio containing three to eight works (i.e. dramatic script, journalism, poetry, short story, etc.) Application can be found at the Scholastic Writing Awards website.
The Charles and Lucille King Film and Television Scholarship-$7,000. Merit based, emphasis on past awards and film activities. Application available at Charles and Lucille King Family Foundation website.
Phi Delta Theta Foundation Francis D. Lyon Scholarship-$1,000 to $3,000. Do not have to be a member of Phi Delta Theta to be eligible. For Film Studies and Television Students. Application can be found on the Phi Delta Theta Foundation website.

Duck Tape Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest-$3,000. Create an outfit and/or costume almost entirely out of Duck Tape for Prom, judged on originality, workmanship, and quantity of tape. Submit a picture of the Duck Tape ensemble to www.stuckatprom.com
World Studio AIGA Art Scholarship-$2,000-$6,000, minority and/or economically disadvantaged design/art students, selected based on need, talent, and commitment to give back to the community. Application can be found on the Worldstudio AIGA website.
Scholastic Art Awards-up to $10,000. Submissions can include works in animation, ceramics, glass, design, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, and film and video. Applications can be found at www. artandwriting.org

Community Service
Prudential Spirit of Community Award State Honorees receive $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. National Honorees receive $5,000. This program honors students for outstanding acts of community service to reward and encourage volunteerism. For more info visit www.prudential.com/spirit.

Senior Youth Foundation National Scholarship Program - One time monetary scholarship of $1500. Selection based on academic performance, leadership skills, and participation in school and community activities. Applications are available at the customer information center at Haywood Mall from the end of January through mid March. Scholarships announced at the end of May.
Toyota Community Scholars Program Senior with 3.0 GPA and involved in service to community. Must be nominated by home high school.
Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation - $4,000 to $20,000. Visit www.coca-colascholars.org. Awards 1.8 million annually to 250 students who demonstrate leadership, commitment to community and academic achievement. Application deadline is October 31.
