Scholastic Awards

Now in their 81st year, the Scholastic Art & Writing Award are the largest, longest-running, and most prestigious recognition for creative young people in the United States. This year, over 250,000 students received honors. In 2001, the Scholastic competition became a two-stage event, first regional, then national. The regional awards are held at Queens College in Charlotte as well as the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, and include ceremonies, readings and a reception. On the national level, students attend ceremonies at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. in June. Past jurors have included Robert Frost, Garrison Keillor, and Frank McCourt. The following Creative Writing students received Scholastic Regional Writing Awards:
