ADMISSIONS

Students grades 8-11 have the opportunity to apply and audition for a spot at the Fine Arts Center in one of our many programs, with applications for auditions available between the months of December and January. Auditions take place in late February and early March for placement into the following school year.

Who Can Apply?

Students in grades 8-11 may apply for an audition. We look for strong interest, dedication, and the drive to reach your full potential.

To receive an audition, you must be in good standing at your current school: completing assignments, showing consistent effort, and keeping a clean discipline record. We review academic and discipline records to make sure you’ll thrive in the FAC’s rigorous, independent environment. You’re also expected to arrive prepared and on time for your audition.

Applying from outside Greenville County Schools

Charter, homeschool, private, and virtual school students are welcome to apply.

Priority goes to Greenville County Schools (GCS) students. Non-GCS students may be admitted if space remains, based on audition scores.
Charter students must attend a school in the Charter Institute at Erskine or the South Carolina Public Charter School District.
Your home school schedule must fit the FAC schedule. Students may not arrive late or leave early because of conflicts.

Cost & Transportation

Attending is free for GCS students.
Some studios charge a class fee to cover student supplies.
FAC Partners covers class and field trip fees for students with Pupil in Poverty status.
Bus transportation is available from every high school in the district.

Timeline

Explore

8th grade school visits, October-December. GCS 8th graders can schedule one through their school counselor.
High School Visitation Day: Thursday, November 19, 2026, 9:15-11:00 a.m. Register here.
Audition/Portfolio Workshop: Saturday, November 21, 2026, 10:00 a.m. [sign-up link coming soon!]

Apply

Application opens: Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Application Workshops (free help with the Acceptd application, optional): Tuesday, October 13, and Tuesday, December 15, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Register here.
Application closes: Thursday, January 28, 2027, 11:59 p.m.
No extensions. The only exception is for families who move into Greenville County after the application closes.

Audition

Audition invitations: by February 11, sent through Acceptd.
Audition days: February 27 and March 6. You will be assigned an audition date and time.

Decide

Results: Monday, March 15, 3:00 p.m., through Acceptd.
Accept your offer by: Friday, April 2, 3:00 p.m.

All communication happens through Acceptd, so check the email you used to create your account.
